Nigeria: OK Free Trade Zone
The OK Free Trade Zone is a state of the art industrial zone situated about 100km east of Lagos along the coast of Ogun and Ondo State and is located right in front of the new oil and gas offshore discoveries. An area of more than 10.000 hectares of bare land is turned into a high quality industrial area with connection to the sea.
The Free Trade Zone offers a prime investment location for a wide range of industries, ranging from oil and gas, light and heavy industries, logistic services and it will further include business districts and residential areas. Dangote Group, West Africa's largest publicly-listed conglomerate, has already announced the development of a refinery, petrochemical complex and fertiliser plant in the OK Free Trade Zone.
The OKFTZ has been licensed by NEPZA (Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority) with a Tax Free status under the Nigerian Export Processing Zone Act, which allows industries to set up a competitive production in Nigeria to supply Nigeria and the West-African coast.
The OKFTZ is connected with the hinterland via new road infrastructure linking the coast up to the Benin-city expressway around Ore. The future port and marine infrastructures in front of the zone will assure the marine access to the zone.
The OKFTZ has been started by the Public-Private Partnership between Rent-A-Port and Ondo and Ogun State. Rent-A-Port maintains strong relations with the project and will put its worldwide expertise in the development of marine infrastructures to the benefit of the project.
